What About Ken Paxton
By Terry Lowry, Editor
Attorney General Ken Paxton has been a friend for many, many years and has been endorsed numerous times in the LINK Letter.
There is no doubt that Ken, through his staff at the AGs office, has accomplished much for Texas. This is worthy of applause.
But did the filing for divorce by Angela Paxton change the equation? Angela Paxton cited adultery as the reason, basing her decision on Biblical grounds.
Life is hard. Divorce is hard.
Too many American families are ripped apart thru divorce every year – including many politicians and elected officials.
Texas Values announced the retraction of their endorsement of Ken Paxton for Senate, citing the allegations against Paxton for repeated adulty as a slap in the face and an attack on marriage.
Furthermore, Texas Values stated they reached out to the Paxton team about the allegations, but found their response to be unsatisfactory.
No Remorse. No Regret.
During a recent interview with Ken Paxton and his sharing of personal information, I did not detect any remorse, any regret, no sorrow, no repentance.
I am deeply troubled.
I am not a priest or a pastor. Nor am I a licensed, professional counselor. Our conversation left me deeply troubled. Ken Paxton and his entire family deserve and need our prayers for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.
Did Paxton turn his back on faith and family?
Once Angela’s story broke about divorcing her husband, a Paxton emissary requested a meeting where I was asked if I was going to stand with my friend, Ken Paxton.
To help in my decision, I asked the Paxton campaign if they would consider submitting an op-ed for inclusion in this LINK Letter. I suggested the submittal could be from a recognized Pro-Life/Pro-Family conservative leader defending Mr. Paxton and his shortcomings and encouraging a vote for Ken Paxton.
In their latest submittal, Ken Paxton was lifted up as one who did not bend, break, or cower to the political winds of the day. Additionally, they stated Ken’s convictions and actions consistently pointed towards righteousness and away from cultural decay.
It’s Now Up To You.
This has been one of the most difficult races I have ever had to pick one candidate to endorse. I have tremendous admiration for Mr. Paxton’s work as Attorney General of Texas. I pray unceasingly over my endorsements, but I cannot, in good conscience, support Mr. Paxton in this race.
Each and every vote is important.
May our Father guide each decision and each vote we cast in the upcoming Primary.
May God be at the center of our decisions.
