< PreviousA New Voice for Collin CountyBy Sara Tracey Assistant Editorthe LINK LetterWith Republican Va nTaylor on his way toCongress, voters havethe opportunity to elect a new voicefor District 8 in Collin County. Angela Paxton is a f iscal and Constitutional Conservative seekingto continue the legacy of strong, effective representation in the Texas Senate. Based on endorsements and local community support, all evidenceseems to indicate that she is winning the hearts and mindsof district voters. To those who know her personally, thatis not a surprise.Angela Paxton has deep roots in the conservative move-ment in Collin County, having lived there for the lasttwenty years and working to promote Conservative causesand candidates. EducationAngela Paxton is an educator with experience in bothChristian and public schools, so the opportunity to elect a true Conservative voice from the educator ranks is appealing to many. She’s the first member of her family tograduate from college and has stated her intent to push formaximum accountability in how taxpayer dollars are spenton education.Border SecurityAngela Paxton has taken a tough, no compromise positionon border security and stopping illegal immigration. As agun owner and License to Carry holder, her passion forprotecting Second Amendment rights is a foundational corebelief. Life IssuesAngela Paxton has a compelling life story of beingadopted, telling voters on the stump, “My life began as anunplanned pregnancy.” It’s not hard to see her on the floorof the Texas Senate as one of the most articulate pro-lifevoices in the history of Texas.Broken Promises Phillip Huffines, her opponent, promised the voters hewould serve out his full term as Dallas County RepublicanChairman, if elected. He did not do so and resigned. Canhe be trusted?Last year, in order to run for this office, Huffines movedfrom the Highland Park area of Dallas to Richardson, anarea still in Dallas County but part of that sliver of DallasCounty which is also in Senate District 8.Voters in Collin County should pause over Huffines, aDallas County resident, seeking to be a voice for a districtoverwhelmingly based in Collin County. Collin Countywould become the largest county in Texas not representedin the Texas Senate by a Senator who lives in their county.Huffines Gives to DemocratsHuffines’ campaign donations to Democrats have becomean issue as well. Texas Ethics Commission records showthat Huffines has given thousands in campaign donationsto Liberal Democrats in the Texas Legislature, includingLiberal members such as Representative Helen Giddingsof Dallas. Angela Paxton has won key Conservative support, includ-ing endorsements from Representatives Jeff Leach, ScottSanford, Matt Shaheen, and Jodie Laubenberg. FormerState Rep. Scott Turner remains widely loved by area Conservatives and has fully endorsed Angela. Almost all local Conservative organizations who have vetted both candidates have thrown their weight behind Angela, and she boasts strong support at both the grassroots and community level. Collin County voters would be wise to elect Angela Paxton to be their next State Senator. Angela PaxtonWeekdays 2:00 to 3:00 PM on FM 100.7 The Word. Visit www.TerryLowry.comNext >
